We also have a large social media following and create videos to promote our installations. This also gives you the opportunity to see what is involved in an 'EV charging point installation'.

Mission

Hypervolt EV Charger

This 7KW Hypervolt installation included the charger being mounted on the opposing side of the house to the electrical supply/consumer unit.

As standard we install EV ultra cable which in this case was routed from the consumer unit under the suspended floor to the externa where we disguised the cable on the inside of the porch and then clipped the cable at low level around to the side of the house to the electric vehicle charging point position.

This installation also included a new EV charging point consumer unit dedicated for the installation, we recommend this as it keeps the EV charging point installation seperate from your existing electrical installation and it also allows us to install the EV charging point with surge protection, Type A RCD protection in a metal enclosure which then meets the current wiring regulations, this can also actually keep the cost down in some cases as your existing consumer unit may not be suitable for an EV charging point circuit to be added to it, so rather than replacing your out of date consumer unit we can leave that alone and proceed with the EV charging point works.

Zappi EV Charger

On this occasion we install a 7KW zappi electric vehicle charging point on the side of a garage wall.

As standard we install EV ultra cable which in this case was routed from the consumer unit which was again in the centre of the house, in this case luckily the wall behind the electrical cupboard was a garage which allowed us to route the cable clipped direct to the inside garage wall to the electric vehicle charging point position.

Indra EV Charger

This is the Indra electric vehicle charging point which we installed on a brand new home.

This was what we describe as a BASIC installation.

The consumer unit was positioned right behind the EV charging point in a hallway cupboard, the consumer unit was brand new with a metal enclosure and spare capacity for an EV charging point circuit.

The existing RCD was a Type AC which is not permitted in an EV charging point installation so we had to replace this module, install a 40A MCB and surge protection.

From the consumer unit we installed an EV ultra cable to the EV charging point position, installed the Indra charger, test, commission and hand over.

The perfect job.

Zappi EV Charger

In the first part of this video you can see a black 7KW tethered Zappi EV charger being installed on the front of the house, an external IP rated consumer unit was installed externally below the meter box as the existing consumer unit inside the house was not accessible.

The external consumer unit is a great way to complete difficult installations when the consumer unit cannot be reached without cosmetic damage to internal decor.

In the second part of this video we had to remove an old Rolec EV charging point as the installation had been carried out poorly and incorrectly.

In its place we installed a space grey Hypervolt EV charger including EV ultra cable back to the consumer unit concealed and dressed in white PVC trunking and protected with a Type A RCD.
